Friday roundup

Well,
here we are again it's Friday.
I don't know why it strikes me
more than any other day
but it does.
It is also the last day
of the
fourth month of the year.
It's May Day tomorrow.
My oldest son
is going to be 37 years old this month.
I was a mere child when I had him
that is why
I am not old
he is!!!
And my second born
in June
he will be 33.
But in reality
he will never
be older than 12!!
They are both wonderful
gorgeous
handsome
lovely (?)
young men
and I am proud to be their Mum.
I don't see them nearly as often as I'd like,
but they are on the other end of the phone
or computer screen
so they aren't that far away.
This is beginning to sound like
a Mother's Day post..
it isn't.
I just wrote what came to me.
Anyway...
back to Friday again.
This morning it was gorgeous
not as cold as the previous two nights
so the sun broke on a warm
Spring day
and I took my walk
and came back with these.

The spiderwort hadn't woken up yet
an hour later she had
the colombine too!!
My, getting to be a very old lady
fern, in the morning light.
Free grass seed here.
I made some little doilies

different colours

and did a little sorting out
of the yarn barn
that is better known
as
room on the left!!
Have a good evening
and a better
weekend.

A huge touch of the uglies

There is a fable that travels amongst
us hookers of yarn,
about gremlins and goblins
sneeking into one's hook work
and messing things up.
These little blighters can
move in fast
and move on
with great speed.
There are tales of them being in
Australia
and showing up in Latvia
that same night,
mixing colours that don't go together,
stealing
blocks
or causing
the inability
to count
properly.
WELL,
and you knew there would be a
WELL,
(or a
BUT),
they showed up here yesterday
and caused the ugliest
creation ever
made in
all the
history
of hooking
yarn
together.
Wanna see,
are you sure??
Sit down,
take a deep breath
and look at this.

:0

I will defeat them,
I will,
and I will take back my work
and make it mine again!!!
Wish me luck.

Who needs a flower shop

When you
have

a
meadow
full
of wild flowers

Blogger burped....

and
the
world
came
to
 a
standstill!!!

Well, not really,
but it sounded
dramatic.
Blogger tried to change the way we upload
our photos,
you know the photos
that show all of you,
our lovely readers,
the sheer excitment
that is our lives!!
But it didn't work,
because
not one photo
could be loaded,
not one
link
could be...
well, linked
so after a few hours,
of,
I am sure,
more people than me,
cursing and berating
Blogger,
they gave us back our
button
that links us to links
and our
photo loader thingy
that brings up the
magnificent
views
that our dear readers
come flocking in to see
on
each
and every
blog on blogger
to join in on the
absolute
sheer
enthralling
excitment
that is the
Land
Of
Blog-
err!
Welcome back
one and all...
We are
back together again,
even though
I don't know who most of you are
and most of you don't know me
but here we sit
you over there
and
me over here
connected
by the
marvels of
modern marvels
until
blogger burps
and interrupts
our,
mostly
 one sided,(on my blog)
conversation!!!
Nice to see
you,
well, I don't actually see you,
maybe in a way I do
when I see the little flags
a'flyin'
on the globe.
Yes,
sometimes I see the flags
flying and it's a wonder to me who is there
reading this
load
of
.....
blogging.
But I'm glad you are there,
because,
otherwise,
as has been said before and will be said
again...
I'd be talking to myself!!!

THANKS

Blogger
People
for fixing
the "probs"
so quickly
so we could all get back
to our
"peeps"
 :) :) :) :) :)

It isn't all crochet and knitting....

over on Flickr...
there is a young lady who has become enamoured with
toilet paper rolls.
Yes, you heard me!!
In this day of using absolutely everything
and not tossing anything into the land fills
she was inspired to make these.
I really, really, like them.
a view of her tatto'd foot!!

a mask
love the play of light and shadow

and this
that tempts me no end!!!

Her name is Daniela,
I'm not sure where she is,
but where ever it is,
she's having fun and doing something
unusual.
Thought I'd show you
there is more
than just the
hooks
working!!!

The Rose...

(US terms used)

chain 40 and dc across

roll it up and sew it to keep it together

make 6 ch3 loops in the back
and make 6dc in each loop

make 6 ch3 loops again
joining into the middle of each petal

make 3dc ch2 3dc into
each loop
and you will have the hexagon
behind the flower.

if you want to join them it can be done by the join-as-you-go method

Japanese book....

Here are some pictures from the book.
Let me know which you like!!
I'll post some more later.

Monday, Monday..

It was foggy this morning
and very quiet and wet.

But out of the fog on the lake
came a single goose.
Alone and silent. I hope the others show up soon,
he looks lonely!

The Colombine is swelling
and should burst open
any day now...
maybe today.
This Hosta is unfurling
wet from the rain shower
we just had.
He sang me the most beautiful song
so I took his portrait.

He just told me about the tomato burrito
again.
And him....
he reminds us that
there is a
Panda Watch
going on at the DC Zoo.
Have a good day
everyone,
we are off to do what's necessary
to get through the day!!!
